    • Abstract:
The article presents information about lipid bilayers present in biological membranes. Biological membranes are ubiquitous structures composed mainly of lipids and proteins. Biomembranes are generally arranged in topologically closed surfaces. Different types of lipids are found in biological membranes, including sterols such as cholesterol, sphingolipids such as sphingomyelin, and phospholipids such as phosphatidyl choline. The lipids in all biological membranes are arranged in the form of a bilayer. The static and the dynamic structure of biological membrane is also discussed. Pores in membranes and its permeability is mentioned too.
