The article discusses the significance of network behavior analysis (NBA) to companies in the U.S. It is a tool that fill the void left by static security products including firewall, which enforced preexisting policies and intrusion-detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), detecting and blocking attacks based on known signatures. It constantly monitors and analyzes network traffic, looking for that zero-day attack, for the client machine that's been turned into spambot, for the server containing sensitive information that is trying to connect to the Internet . It focuses on abnormal behaviors without designating it either good or bad. It is also considered the last line of defense to client networks.
