- Abstract:
The article discusses problems that result from international adoption. Children adopted from foreign countries sometime display troubled behavior stemming from, amongst other things, trauma, mistreatment, malnutrition, fetal alcohol syndrome, and reactive attachment disorder. Some U.S. parents eventually give up their adopted children to the foster care system. The article also discusses the case of Peggy Hilt, who beat her emotionally troubled adopted daughter Nina to death.
