- Abstract:
The article discusses the lengthy gap between the effective end of the primary season and the declarations that mark the start of the U.S. general election campaign. It expects both political parties to hold their national conventions very late. It cites that the gap might give the political candidates time to use trips overseas to polish or establish foreign-policy credentials. According to some party operatives, the gap should prompt nominees to re-examine the current rhythm of modern presidential campaigning.
