      The author reports on the debate in Canadian schools regarding what school system should do for students who are not meeting the educational standards which have been created. Research which have been done later in life on students who repeated a year in school is discussed. The increased risk of students who are kept back a year of dropping out of school is mentioned. The number of students in Canada who do not graduate from high school is discussed. Reasons why the author feels schools repeat students are mentioned. The ideals regarding success in the Canadian school system are discussed.
