This article focuses on the clean diesel regulations of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, which became effective on January 1, 2007. Part of a phased-in program, the rules are aimed at decreasing smog-causing nitrogen oxide emissions, lowering soot or particulate matter and reducing sulfur content in diesel fuel. For all 2008 model of trucks with diesel engines, advanced technologies and the use of ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel will be applicable.
