      This article presents a critical reply to "Nouvelles voies spirituelles en dehors de la tradition chrétienne en Suisse," by Jean-François Mayer. The author takes issue with Mayer's characterization of non-Christian religious traditions as "other" and "alternative" and how this mars the syncretic sociological analysis. The author also takes issue with Mayer's citation of Françoise Champion's designation of alternative religions as "nébuleuse" or hazy.
