- Abstract:
The article focuses on the social dynamics of women's health in West Bengal, India. It mentions that people's health in India is related to the dynamics of their social institution. The article cites a study which found that women in West Bengal have poorer health than men. It also mentions that women have delayed access to health care due to their social norms related to living in patriarchal families. The article also reports that impoverished women in India went to informal private health institutions which involved healers who used religious rituals aside from modern medicine. It mentions that understanding the dynamics of women's health in India is a key part of studying globalization.
