- Abstract: This article reflects on the factors contributing to the development and extinction of a literary piece. The essay discussed the historical background of literature in the U.S. Many authors mention that human experiences are significant to the development of a written work. On the other hand, literature is also important to improving interpersonal relations. In addition, social changes such as modernism influence the evolution of literature. Social events trigger the types of literary works that were developed during a specific era.
