      The article discusses the benefits of sustainable school buildings. The author profiles several schools that received certifications from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), including Great Seneca Creek Elementary in Germantown, Maryland and Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Collins, Colorado. She discusses the importance of school environment and describes features such as natural light,and air quality that have contributed to improved teacher retention and student attendance.
