      The article provides information on the defendants who were charged since September 11 with fighting for, providing material to or financing al-Qaida or the Taliban, and whose cases have been disposed of by a U.S. District Court as of late July 2007. Zacarias Moussaoui is an al-Qaida member who pleaded guilty to planning to fly a plane into the White House. He was sentenced for life imprisonment. Richard Reid has pleaded guilty to trying to detonate a bomb in his shoe on an American Airlines flight over the Atlantic. Jose Padilla is a U.S. citizen who allegedly planned to explode a bomb in the U.S. for al-Qaida.
