      The article discusses the different regulations on the use of hydroquinone, a skin lightener, in cosmetic products around the world. It was banned in South Africa due to problems with exogenous ochronosis. The European Union also banned it out of concern for exogenous ochronosis and leukomelanderma en confetti. Hydroquinone is only avalaible through prescription in Australia.
