Women and Islam: Bearing Witness to Their Daily Lives.

The article offers a look at the lives of women in Islamic countries. According to the author, women in today's Islamic countries are surrounded by religious issues, political activities and cultural trends which make their lives difficult and unhappy. In the 20th century, Middle Eastern women experienced a life that the author describes as enjoyable. However, since 2000 the increase in Islamic radicalism has embedded women in strict Islamic practices which they are expected to follow. It is noted that the photographs accompanying the article capture the daily lives of women in Islamic countries.
