    • Abstract:
The article discusses violations to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FPCA). It prohibits both the U.S. and foreign corporations from offering payment or anything of value in order to obtain or retain business. In 2002, a former employee filed a civil suit in Texas against Baker Hughes Inc., alleging that he was fired for refusing to take part in bribing Nigerian officials to obtain business in Nigeria. The company voluntarily reported the allegations to the U.S. Department of Justice in 2002.
