    • Abstract:
The article discusses a study which attempts to investigate the hypothesis that retardates characterized by high utilization of fantasy. It focuses on the characteristics which measured by the Fantasy Inventory, will manifest less aggression and situational anxiety, than retardates characterized by low utilization of fantasy. It consisted two sessions of institutionalized male and female high grade retardates. The study of a positive correlation between fantasy and manifest anxiety suggests that fantasy may function successfully as a defense mechanism under day-to-day, transient situational frustrations.
