- Abstract:
This article looks at research into eye movements. Tiny, unconscious flicks of the eyes have been found to be more than tics. When eyes fix on something they make tiny jumps that turn out to be essential for seeing. The largest of these fixational eye movements are called microsaccades and scientists say they engender visibility and the bigger and faster they are, the better they work. Scientists also think that microsaccades may shed light on subliminal thoughts. INSETS: VANISHING VESSELS;REFRESHING THE PICTURE;SEEING WITH MICROSACCADES.
