- Abstract: Reopening the whole question of a worldwide cultural approach. At the time of exchange globalization which provokes, it seems, the inevitable, increasing acculturation of societies, some phenomena of cultural reception, however, come to thwart this prediction or observation. For instance, the reception of American films abroad and in France in particular, is not always predictable and identical to that of America. The analysis here is about the reception of the film Forrest Gump by Robert Zemeckis in France, in 1994 which did not get very good reviews and was not even really successful with the French public. The universal ambition of American culture on the one hand and the great success of Forrest Gump in the United States on the other pointed to immediate support of the French spectators. Actually, the reception of the film in France showed several aspects different from that of America, thus reopening the whole question of a worldwide cultural approach. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
