- Abstract:
An interview with Citigroup former chairman Sanford Weill is presented. When asked his view when Travelers Group acquired Citigroup, he mentions that they felt that they have a great position in the U.S., but not around the rest of the world. He notes that the acquisition led to approaching John Reed at Citicorp about combining their companies. He adds that the merger was designed with Travelers' buying Citicorp and then applying to the Federal Reserve Board to become a bank holding company.
