      The author offers opinions on the 2007 Players Championship golf tournament. The event's dates were switched from late March to mid-May, and the TPC Sawgrass course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida where it is staged underwent major renovations. The change in dates is praised for falling in a slow period for U.S. sports, but competing golfers were uncomfortable with it. The switch from rye to bermuda grass on the course is praised. The famous 17th "lsland" hole is said to be the same.
