Public Opinion, Partisan Identification, and Higher Education Policy.

The article examines whether U.S. voters' identification with either the Republican or Democratic party influences their opinions on issues involving higher education. Positions on those issues taken by members of the U.S. Congress of both parties are presented. The study's methodology is described. Democrats are found more aligned with their leaders' positions than are Republicans. The author notes a significant level of interest in higher educational issues in both groups.
