      The article describes the case of a 67-year-old woman with polymyositis who was admitted to hospital because of hypertensive encephalopathy. The results of the physical examination are described. According to physician Joseph H. Korn, the woman has a rapidly progressive illness that was manifested by muscle weakness and myocardial infarction. Myositis was confirmed by imaging studies and muscle biopsy. The patient was discharged after a short hospital stay but returned with severe hypertension and encephalopathy.
