      The article presents the author's experience of attending a Sustainable Forestry and Watershed Workshop held in Ulan-Ude, Russia for foresters and officials concerned with protection of Lake Baikal in Russia. The focused on sustainable forest practices, erosion control, reforestation, fire management, and protected area designations. While there, he handed out copies of "American Forests" magazine and visited restoration projects; harvest areas; reforestation programs, including tree nurseries and seed tree orchards; and a major forest industry company.
