      The article focuses on effective advocacy discussed at the Government Relations Legislative Workshop sponsored by the International Reading Association (IRA) which was held in Washington, D.C. from February 15 to 17, 2007. The workshop was attended by 80 IRA members across the U.S. and opened with welcoming comments from Jesse Moore, chair of the committee, and from Alan E. Farstrup, executive director of IRA. A discussion on state efforts at giving education was also included at the workshop.
