A QUESTION OF ORIGINS: THE SOCIAL AND CULTURAL ROOTS OF AFRICAN AMERICAN CULTURES.

The article focuses on the origins of African American cultures in the New Worlds. Some scholars have asserted that the question of origins is unimportant with regard to understanding the development of African American cultures. Author W. E. B Du Bois has argued that the roots of African American culture cannot be explained without relevance to Africa. It mentions that neither cultural diversity nor linguistic multiplicity served as major obstacles to the development of African American cultures.
