      The author discusses how companies that offer free lunches, or other free food promotions, can gain customer loyalty. The author humorously recounts an experience, which involved her getting a free pastrami sandwich from the fast-food chain Subway. The author experienced difficulties in trying to get the free lunch because several of the Subway locations were sold out of the pastrami sandwich being offered, but at her final stop one of the employees offered her an alternative free sandwich.
