- Abstract:
The article examines if tea lowers the risk of certain diseases such as cancer, heart disease and obesity. It was concluded that drinking tea does not appear to prevent heart disease. It was noted that tea prevents cancer in animals, but in human studies, people who drink five or more cups a day have no lower risk. It was also revealed by long-term studies that epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), an antioxidant that occurs naturally in tea, and caffeine had no consistent impact on weight.
