    • Abstract:
The article presents highlights from the February issue of the American Journal of Public Health. Children's problems with overweight and obesity begin as early as age 3, and Hispanic children and those with obese mothers are especially at risk, according to a study. In another study, African American women are much more likely to die from certain pregnancy-related complications than white women, yet the deaths cannot be explained by higher rates of those complications. Meanwhile, research aimed at preventing the estimated 10 million yearly child deaths worldwide is not aimed in the right direction, according to analyses.
