    • Abstract:
The article provides information on the role of Real D, a digital three dimensional (3D) experience provider, in the transformation of the stereoscopic film genre. In 2002, film producer Michael J. Lewis started Real D with the intent of developing technology for 3D in cinema. Real D's first stereoscopic film was the 2005 "Chicken Little" and its first Real D-equipped theater, the Mann Theatre's Grauman's Chinese Complex, was completed in 2005 as well. Following the 3D version of "Chicken Little" was "Monster House," which, says Lewis, played in Real D on 4 percent of the screens but accounted for 15 percent of the overall box office.
