CRISTIANISMO E GNOSTICISMO: UMA AVALIAÇÃO DE SUA INCOMPATIBILIDADE AO ENSEJO DA PUBLICAÇÃO DO "EVANGELHO DE JUDAS.".

With the publication of the so-called Gospel of Judas once again the issue of the relationship between Gnosticism and Christianity in the first centuries of the Christian era is raised. Can Gnosticism be considered a deviant branch of Christianity? Should the Gnostic gospels be considered Christian documents such as the canonical ones? Does the Gospel of Judas bring any contribution to the study of Christian roots? The author answers these questions negatively by demonstrating that the premises of Gnosticism are incompatible with those of Christianity. For this reason one should not consider Gnosticism, whatever its shape, as Christian. Besides making a comparison between the main Gnostic beliefs and those of biblical-historical Christianity, the author presents a brief analysis of the content of the Gospel of Judas, in order to locate it in the literary context of Gnostic writings and make clear its incompatibility with the canonical literature of the New Testament, especially that of the gospels. For the author, the discovery and publication of the Gospel of Judas can contribute to the study of Gnosticism itself, in its different forms, but not to the study of Christianity in its historical roots. Com a publicação do chamado Evangelho de Judas, novamente é levantada a questão do relacionamento entre o gnosticismo e o cristianismo nos primeiros séculos da era cristã. O gnosticismo pode ser considerado um ramo dissidente do cristianismo? Os evangelhos gnósticos devem ser considerados documentos do cristianismo, tais como os canônicos? O Evangelho de Judas traz alguma contribuição para o estudo das raízes do cristianismo? São questões que o autor responde pela negativa, demonstrando que as premissas do gnosticismo são incompatíveis com as do cristianismo e que, por essa razão, não se pode chamar o gnosticismo de cristão, qualquer que seja a sua modalidade. Além de fazer uma comparação das principais crenças do gnosticismo com as do cristianismo bíblico-histórico, o autor apresenta uma breve análise do conteúdo do Evangelho de Judas para situá-lo no contexto literário dos escritos gnósticos e deixar evidente a sua incompatibilidade com a literatura canônica do Novo Testamento, especialmente com a dos evangelhos. Para o autor, a descoberta e publicação do Evangelho de Judas pode contribuir para o estudo do gnosticismo em si, em suas diversas modalidades, mas não para o estudo do cristianismo em suas raízes históricas.
