    • Abstract:
The article looks at the intensity of modern war wounds. According to the article, the explosive blast of improvised explosive devices, typically roadside bombs hidden on convoy routes, shears off body parts, while concussive force cause internal injuries and permanent brain damage. Dr. Joseph Rosen, a plastic surgeon at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center who works with soldiers injured in the Iraq War, envisions the possibility of regeneration of a missing body part through tissue engineering. Comments from Erin Donaldson, a clinical anaplastologist for Living Skin, a company specializing in lifelike prostheses, are presented.
