    • Abstract:
The article looks at data from the U.S. Education Department, which shows that across the country there are more women undergraduates than men. Some policy analysts say the gender gap is already changing classroom dynamics, rerouting social relationships, and paving a dangerous path toward a lopsided future. On the other hand, some women's groups focus on the fact that the men that are forgoing higher education tend to be from low-income and minority groups, which makes the gap more about class and race than about gender. They also point out that men still out-earn women after college, taking the top jobs in most professions.
