The 1905 Anti-American Boycott as a Transnational Chinese Movement.

The article explores the connection of the 1905 anti-American boycott to the overseas Chinese reform organization, the Baohuang Hui. Views on the significance of the 1905 boycott, in terms of the transformation of China's political landscape and of the political consciousness of the Chinese people are presented. The author argues that the 1905 boycott must be seen as a transnational Chinese protest. Information on the Tom Leung collection of documents showing the influence of Baohuang Hui on the boycott is presented.
