    • Abstract:
      The article examines the competing responses in human affective behavior. An experiment was done to test the competing affects hypothesis which proposes the possible production of a reduced magnitude of a conditioned anxiety response through simultaneous elicitation of certain affects. The experiment is consist of simultaneous tachistoscopic presentation of two letters. The author claims that the competing affects hypothesis was confirmed in the said experiment with the pairing of contentment and anxiety.
