Dawn of the Web Office. (cover story)

The article presents information on Web office applications that define the office suite in 2006. Copies of documents can be pass around using electronic mail attachments or file upload/download, but it can also pass uniform resource locators to any of the variety of group contexts. With the introduction of Google Docs and Spreadsheets, memos and worksheets sit at the center of a nexus of collaboration. The year saw the emergence of enterprise wiki and efforts to enrich the wiki interface were already underway. With word processors and spreadsheets migrating into the network in 2006, databases were bound to follow.
