- Abstract:
The article focuses on the issues surrounding the ocean policy in the U.S. Ocean policy covers political boundaries, fishing and oil development rights, navigation rights and undersea mining claims. In 2004, U.S. President George W. Bush established a Committee on Ocean Policy in an effort to address the overlapping responsibilities of regulatory agencies in marine resources protection. However, it is noted that despite the efforts launched to protect the oceans, challenges still surround the marine ecosystems.
