    • Abstract:
The article focuses on a study conducted by researcher Christina M. Ambros-Rudolph, which found that marathon runners may have an increased risk for skin cancer. The researchers studied 210 marathon runners and found many alterations in their immune cell function. The researchers suggested that trauma sustained during extreme exercise can induce release of cytokines and proteins that may limit the ability of the immune system to fight potential cancers.
