      The article presents information about the selection procedure of the Sunshine State Young Reader Award (SSYRA) books. Books, all of them fiction, are selected each year in Florida by the SSYRA committee. The committee members are media specialists selected by the Florida Department of Education and Media Services Division. They read over 300 books each year, annotate and discuss each book. Then they nominate and create the final list. Books are recommended by Florida media specialists.
