Workshop on Assessment in Distance Education: Capacity Building of IGNOU Faculty.

The article provides information on a capacity building workshop entitled "Assessment in Distance Education," organized by the Staff Training and Research Institute Distance Education and held from May 29 to 30, 2006 in the Conference Room of Indira Gandhi National Open University in India. It outlines the objectives of the workshop sessions. New assessment techniques for open universities such as portfolios and collaborative assessment were proposed at the workshop.
