    • Abstract:
The author reflects on two issues that include the reduced functionality feature in Microsoft Office 2007 and Windows Vista of Microsoft Corp. and the case filed by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) against the Child Online Protection Act (COPA) in the U.S. He explains that the said feature will ensure that the software will refuse to do anything really useful if an authenticity check will fail. ACLU argues that COPA will charge penalties of up to $50,000 per day if approved.
