The article reports on the developments of higher speed Ethernet bandwidth to meet customer needs in the Internet industry in the U.S. The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc. had created the Higher Speed Ethernet Study Group which is responsible of improving Ethernet beyond the 10 gigabytes capacity. According to Lane Patterson, chief technology officer of Equinix Inc., online traffic doubled every 12-14 months and development of solution is important to prevent bandwidth constraint.
