      The article focuses on microbiologist Khotso Mokhele. He was formerly in charge of developing research at the National Research Foundation in South Africa. The root of his passion for education and valuing black identity were introduced during his upbringing. He stresses that South Africa should concentrate on areas where it has a natural advantage and there has been a reluctance to establish national agencies for science research funding.
