    • Abstract:
The article discusses how electronic voting machines can cause problems for the elections in the U.S. in November 2006. Dozens of problems were reported by volunteers manning voting precincts nationwide. About two-thirds of which are optical scan models or touch-screen computers. According to the Elections Data Services, as many as 80 percent of voters nationwide are expected to use an e-voting machine this fall. A report from the Brennan Center for Justice found 120 security threats, including states failing to install intrusion detection software.
