    • Abstract:
The article discusses the advantages and disadvantages of keyless and keyed shaft connections in relation to connecting gearboxes and motors. A way to compare keyed and keyless designs is in terms of torque transmission. A 16 millimeter shaft is used to compare keyed and keyless designs. Calculations are presented that determine the maximum torque that can be transmitted through both keyed and keyless shafts.
