    • Abstract:
The article presents a reply from Elliott Aronson regarding a commentary given by Bernice E. Lott on his article "The Effect of Effort on the Attractiveness of Rewarded and Unrewarded Stimuli." Aronson says that in the absence of an experiment that produces an opposite result of his study, he finds Lott's interpretation less than compelling. The critique lacked understanding of some vital aspects of the experiment, the hypothesis and the dependent variable. Using a possible derivation from Hullian theory, Lott did not conduct an experiment specifically designed to test her explanation, thus she was unable to provide previous evidence that might support her explanation.
