    • Abstract:
The article focuses on the efforts of Edward Hallinan in leading Saint Martin de Porres, an African-American parish school in the northern part of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Hallinan became the sixth priest of the school in 1997. Due to the decline of enrollment in 1993, the archdiocese consolidated three parishes in the region. The parish school ran a deficit when he took over but help came from Saint Katherine of Siena parish which donated an amount for clothing and food for Saint Martin.
