The Long Journey Captured in Single Moments.

The author relates his reasons for proposing a coverage project on women migrant workers at the "Chicago Tribune." The images of women crossing borders, creating new but uncertain lives motivate the author to tell their stories through photography. For him and his colleagues to learn the best approach in doing the project, they asked seven female reporters, each of whom was an immigrant or the child of an immigrant mother, to tell how their mothers' journeys affected their lives. The areas covered are Chicago, Illinois; Lost Angeles, California, New York City, Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico.
