- Abstract:
The article focuses on the nonpharmocological treatments effective against common nongenital warts. The usual treatments applied are cryotherapy, electro-surgery, cutting, and lasers. Seventeen studies of cryotherapy involving 400 patients showed cure rates from 29% to 87%. Although longer freeze times appear to improve the cure rates, they also cause increased pain and blistering. Treatment with carbon dioxide laser showed cure rates between 52% to 100%. There is no evidence that favors laser therapy over cryotherapy or cantharidin.
