    • Abstract:
The article reports on the installation of encryption software on the 15,000 laptops of U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. This move is part of the effort to improve information security in the agency. The Veterans Affair (VA) is in the process of supplying government owned laptops to employees who use their computers to do agency work at home. The encryption software has been installed on all but about 100 VA laptops. Robert Howard, VA supervisor of information technology, said that the software is used to prevent the misuse of sensitive data.
