    • Abstract:
The article focuses on the reaction of Muslims to a statement made by Pope Benedict XVI in which he quoted 14th century Byzantine emperor Manuel II Paleologus's idea of violence and Islam during his visit at Regensburg University in Germany. The pope said that violence is incompatible with the nature of God and the soul. He also argued that faith is born of the soul and not the body. The Mujahedeen Shura Council challenged the notion that Islam was spread by sword by vowing to spread Islam by sword.
