    • Abstract:
The article reports that a nuclear reactor using uranium 233 (U-233) as its fuel has gone into operation at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission. Using neutron capture, the U-233 was converted from nonfissionable thorium 232. The reactor's fuel is in the form of a molten salt of uranium fluoride-lithium fluoride into which U-233 was processed.
